Asya Palatova has owned and operated Gleena Studios since 2009, collaborating with artists, creative directors, gallery owners, independent businesses, writers, and editors on a variety of 2D and 3D design projects. Gleena means “clay” in Russian.

She began her career in New York City after graduating from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. She joined Michael Bierut’s team at Pentagram, where she worked on identity, editorial, and environmental design projects. Her editorial and print work has been recognized by the AIGA, Art Directors Club, Type Directors Club, and the Society of Publication Designers.

After leaving Pentagram, Asya became an associate art director at Martha Stewart Living, collaborating with editors, stylists, and photographers to produce feature editorials. Seeking to expand her creative practice, she earned a Master of Fine Arts degree with a ceramics concentration from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), graduating with honors.

She then returned to publishing as the Art Director for Martha Stewart’s Body+Soul (B+S) magazine in Boston. During this time, she also launched Gleena Ceramics, a porcelain tableware line. In 2009, she left B+S to run Gleena Studios full-time, combining her design expertise with her passion for ceramics.

Asya’s extensive and multifaceted background in graphic design has played a key role in growing Gleena. She brings her experience in developing, promoting, and selling a successful ceramics line into her graphic design practice. She collaborates with individuals and small businesses on branding, promotional materials, website content development, and coaching.

Feeling the need to deepen her coaching skills, Asya completed an intensive coach training program at Coach U. She is currently working toward her Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credentials through the International Coaching Federation.

Asya’s creative paths inspire and inform one another as she coaches others to achieve their endeavors. Visit the COLLABORATIONS page for clients Asya has coached through their creative development.
